Capabilities
In addition to the standard light controls (on/off, brightness, color, temperature), the Upstairs Smart Stairs app exposes several activity-related capabilities on each device. These provide insight into how your stairs are being used throughout the day.
This app does not measure stair activity itself. All activity data is retrieved from the Upstairs cloud service. The app simply makes this data available within Homey.
Activity data is retrieved from the Upstairs API every 60 seconds. Values shown in Homey may be slightly behind actual stair usage. There is no real-time push mechanism available from the Upstairs service.
Stair Uses Today
Shows the total number of times the stairs have been used today. This value resets at midnight. It is displayed on the device info pane and tracked in Homey Insights, allowing you to view usage trends over time.
Calories Today
Shows the estimated calories burned from stair usage today, as calculated by the Upstairs service. Like stair uses, this resets daily and is available in Homey Insights for historical tracking.
Average Speed Today
Shows the average speed (km/h) at which the stairs have been used today, as calculated by the Upstairs service. This resets daily and is available in Homey Insights for historical tracking.
Last Direction
Displays the direction of the most recent stair activity: Up or Down. This is visible on the device info pane.
